Quote of the Day: Kathleen Parker on Southerners

In a piece in the Washington Post largely bemoaning the presidency of Der  Trumpenführer, columnist Kathleen Parker had a line that I found simply wonderful as one who has lived most of my adult life in the South:

United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley . . . . Haley, quickly at home in her new position, has been at once firm and diplomatic in her statements about Russia. Southerners are exquisitely expert at being polite while adding arsenic to a glass of sweet tea.
In New York for instance the stab wounds from one's enemies will be in the chest.  In the South, they are ALWAYS in your back, often occurring after polite pleasantries.  The women are the worst.
