More Out in the Park Retrospectives

It's been a little over a week since the amazingly successful Out in the Park pride event in Norfolk's Town Point Park. Many in the LGBT community seem to be experiencing a post pride afterglow which is somewhat deserved - especially since the City of Norfolk actually went so far as to issue a proclamation (pictured above - click the image to enlarge it) in honor of Out in the Park and the local LGBT community. To my knowledge, the City of Norfolk has never before taken such an affirmative message. One can only hope that seeing 14,500 people in attendance will have sent a permanent wake up call to city leaders.

The other message that I hope local members of the LGBT community take to heart is the message that this amazing event only happened because of the efforts of a number of people who worked diligently for months and/or literally put their money where their mouths were and contributed money to make the event possible. The top photo below (click on the image to enlarge it) lists the majority of these financial sponsors. ALL of us need to make a point to support and patronize these firms and businesses. Without them Out in the Park - and many other positive things for the community would not happen.
