Mayor of Richmond Issues Non-Discrimination Executive Order

While the marginalization and stigmatizing of LGBT Virginians remains a central policy plank for the Republican Party of Virginia with its whore like prostitution of itself to The Family Foundation and similar Christo-fascists across the state, some leaders - especially at the local level - seem to be realizing that Virginia's constant national press coverage on anti-gay initiatives is not good for business. Not to mention down right wrong. One such locality is the City of Richmond which last year added a LGBT tourism page to its convention and visitors bureau website. Now, that city's mayor has issued an executive order (shown above via GayRVA) that a zero tolerance policy for discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity within any City of Richmond agency. While the executive order doesn't change the reality that LGBT Virginians have ZERO state law employment protections and that our significant life relationships are given less recognition that pet ownership rights, it is nonetheless a positive sign that some are belatedly waking up to the uncompetitive position Virginia is acquiring under that hate merchants of the GOP and Christianist organization.

The question now is when will more localities join with Richmond and say "No" to Christianist anti-gay bigotry as a matter of official policy?
