Anti-Gay Extremism Captured at Toxic Oklahoma Council Meeting

I never cease to be amazed as just how vile the self-congratulatory Christian set can be and how they almost joyfully denigrate and trash other humans. Typically, such hatred is not readily available, but in the case of the Norman, Oklahoma city council meeting credited with pushing 19 year old Zach Harrington (pictured at left) to suicide, we have some of the hatred, ignorance and bigotry caught on video. It's not pretty, but it's all too representative of the evil force that religion and religious based bigotry have become. Personally, I believe what really drives the anti-gay hatred is not a reverence for Scripture as many of the haters claim, but rather the fact that the acceptance of gays suggest that the Bible is in error on the issue of homosexuality. And if that is the case, then these people's entire house of cards world view comes crashing down and - God forbid - they might actually have to think for themselves. In their hearts, I suspect many of the Christianists know that their far right belief system is a lie and anything - such as gays - that makes them contemplate that reality makes the hatred levels go off the charts. Here is some of the batshitery:

Remember, the sole issue that triggered all of this was the issue of a simple proclamation recognizing October as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender History Month in the City of Norman.
