Frisco North Carolina Takes a Beating

Over the last 15 years or more I have surfed many times not far from the Frisco fishing pier on Hatteras Island and have seen the pier withstand waves breaking a a height almost equal to the pier. From the photo above it looks like waves generated by Hurricane Earl may well take down the pier - or a substantial piece of it. Hopefully, the town and people of Frisco make it through the storm. Hurricane Isabel in 2003 breached the island about a mike south of the pier and wiped out a wonderful bakery that had been a standard stop on our "boys surf trips" when my son was younger.

Meanwhile, it looks increasingly that Earl will be a non-event for the Hampton Roads area. Nonetheless, the boyfriend and I put in place our preparedness plans.
